The REnewable Minds portal is sponsored by National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited, also known as National Energy.

The portal provides information that can influence children’s understanding of energy sources and their effects on the environment. By signing The Paris Agreement, The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has promised the world to reduce our country’s greenhouse (GHG) emissions by at least 15% by 2030 when compared to the amount of GHG we produced in 2013. National Energy is supporting the Government in fulfilling this commitment by:

  1. Implementing energy-based projects that require zero/less use of natural gas.
  2. Educating and training citizens to change the way we understand and use energy.

Our partnership with Pennacool Caribbean Limited provides a platform for increasing awareness of how each of us can contribute to a low-carbon future by:

  1. Using energy from REnewable sources.
  2. Being Energy Efficient.
  3. Increasing our use of alternative energy sources.

National Energy’s Commitment to A Low Carbon Future

National Energy is a wholly owned subsidiary of The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC). We operate alongside member companies: Phoenix Park Gas Processors (PPGPL), NGC CNG Company Limited (NGC CNG) and La Brea Industrial Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (LABIDCO). National Energy, along with the other members of the NGC Group, believes that education can encourage individuals to be more responsible in their use of energy, which is critical in addressing climate change. As such, our REnewable Minds portal focuses on topics such as REnewable Energy (RE), Energy Efficiency (EE) and Alternative Energy sources. 'REnewable Minds' provides an excellent opportunity to shape the minds of the children in our twin-island Republic.

We anticipate that this portal will positively influence participants to make meaningful behavioural changes that mitigate against climate change by:

  • Reducing energy wastage at home.
  • Choosing educational pursuits that promote participation in RE.
  • Encouraging others (including adults) to make responsible decisions when using energy and promoting the switch to RE technologies.

This ‘renewed’ knowledge in energy sources and their respective uses is key to our children’s participation in and preparation for the transition to a low-carbon future.
